Pruning scissors

The basic pruning shears

The basic level pruning shears or shears are the simplest and most universal model to carry out medium-short and not particularly complicated gardening jobs. Shears of this type are recommended in agriculture and gardening or in nursery activities. Depending on the intended use, the shears have different shapes and shapes. The basic model is ideal for cutting twigs. This model has curved blades to better accommodate the twigs. Furthermore, the blades are short in relation to the length of the handles. This way you can make good pressure on the blades themselves. There are also versions with long and straight blades and handles, more suitable for trimming hedges. This type of scissors can be made in different ways. There are built entirely of special steels and coated in non-slip rubbery plastic for professional pruning. The polished and super-sharpened stainless steel blades guarantee a clean and more precise cut. The key is that the scissors are always sharp, clean and of excellent quality.

Pneumatic pruning shears

The pneumatic shears are driven by compressed air, so they need to be connected to a compressor or, if you have one, to a self-propelled motor compressor. This type of shear is characterized by a remarkable lightness. Their weight is approximately 500 grams and therefore they are able to ensure to the pruner a manageability and lightness for a job of several hours that is repeated over time. It is a professional pruning shear, particularly suitable for vineyards. Lisam produces different types based on their function: there are magnesium alloys or models with double-edged hardened steel blades. An important feature of this model is that it is very efficient. That is, they offer the possibility of working at the same time on different fronts, unlike the electric ones. Furthermore, each model of pneumatic shears can be extended using fixed extensions and telescopic rods to be able to prune up to 3-4 meters in height.

Electric pruning shears

Electric pruning shears are suitable for professional and precise work, such as pruning vineyards. They weigh on average 800-1000 grams, so much more than pneumatic ones. Then there is the accessory battery to be carried in a special vest or backpack. The latter weighs about 2-2.5 kg and is recharged every 5 or 6 hours. It allows you to work for about 2 days with the same charge. There is a kit that contains, in addition to the electric pruning shears and the battery, also a pair of gloves with the switch, a connection cable, the charger, a stone to sharpen the blades of the scissors and the telescopic rods to get up to at 6-7 meters in height. There are also smaller and lighter batteries but they are less autonomous and need to be recharged more often. With these, it is possible to cut rather thick branches, reducing the cutting times that occur with a basic scissors. They are better indicated for the vineyards, less for the olive groves for which an electric chainsaw is preferable. Photo source:

Pruning shears: Telescopic pruning shears

Finally, there is a model suitable for gardening in height. The telescopic, in fact, are shears with a telescopic rod that can reach various heights. Among the most used there are those that measure 130 and 180 cm from sluices and then become 200 and 300 cm long once extended. It is actually normal manual scissors, like the first ones we have described, or pneumatic or electric, such as those in paragraphs 2 and 3, but which can be lengthened with telescopic rods to prune at higher heights without using ladders and thus guaranteeing greater cutting safety. Some of these models are adjustable and can reach the most hidden branches, while others have an "antifatic" engagement that allows you to easily put yourself in the best position to cut the branch even from a distance and become less tired.
